What is VisiTax?

Created in April 2021 by the government of Quintana Roo in Mexico, Visitax is a provision that affects all travelers to this region. So, if you want to visit Quintana Roo from Mexico, you must comply with this requirement. You will be asked to provide proof of payment of this tax before entering the country. Several destinations are affected by this measure. These include Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel and Puerto Aventuras.

Who must pay the new VisiTax?

Anyone who enters the grounds of Quintana Roo, in this case adults and children over 4 years for business and tourist reasons or simply for transit must pay Visitax. Likewise, those traveling to these destinations for health, education and other reasons must pay the new Visitax fee. However, if you are traveling to Mexico without a plan to visit the territory of Quintana Roo, this new tax does not affect you.
