“African SME” project : launch !

01st November 2013 an 18 months multimedia project on Small & Medium Entreprises in Africa and their unknown impact on the continent's Development. First step in Mauritania in December.

Launched in November 2013, the project “SME Africa” (Small & Medium Entreprises in Africa) aim at giving a new vision of the continent through some companies, created and/or run by africans.
It will sure focus on this SME founders, on life at work in all its aspects but it will above all present a visual overview of the impacts this entreprises have on life around them ( infrastructure, job creation, change in living conditions, cultural shift, …). It will adress workers, clients, but also local population and stakeholders.
“SME Africa” will be a tool to make the public opinion sensitive to this issue, as well the decision makers (politics, media, private sector responsibles) aware of the importance of local african companies as a medium and accelerator of the continent’s development.
The project will mix the production of photography series, video content, sound capture, and analytical contents produced by specialists of Africa and Impact analysis. Visibility of the project will be insured through the production and release of Small Multimedia Contents of 3-5′ after each reportage, and then the edition of a book, an exhibit and an dedicted website or webdocumentary in late 2014.
Support from the AfD (Agence Française pour le Developpement), Proparco, CFAO, I&P (Investisseur & Partenaires) was key to set up the project. It should last about 18 months, cover 6 companies in different countries and business sector (agriculture, industry, services, …)
